Over the techsolutionstips, cooling bulk solids such as sugar, fertilizer, chemicals, plastics, dried biosolids, minerals, and many other types of grains, crystals and bulk powders using the traditional technologies does not guarantee quality final products. As a result, the business productivity was greatly affected and most of all this technology has lots of disadvantages to deal with.
In response to this challenge, leading industrial companies together with their best scientists and engineers designed a laudable breakthrough technology that efficiently cools bulk solids and bulk powders of all types, the bulk solids cooling technology. This world leading technology has been widely use in a variety of bulk powder applications worldwide. It has also gained the reputation for effectively facilitating the process of cooling bulk powders.
How It Works
First, this technology facilitate a slow and controlled product flow by allowing the bulk powders and bulk solids materials to pass slowly downward between a series of vertical hollow heat exchange plates. And after that, the materials undergo indirect plate cooling and then it passes through a mass flow technology wherein the mass flow discharge feeder creates uniform product velocity through the cooler and regulates the product flow rate. And lastly, it passes a vertical configuration where bulk solids pass through the vertical cooler by gravity.
Why It’s Better
This bulk solids cooler technology is considered to be super-efficient compared to other competing technology since it uses up to 90% less energy. The indirect plate cooling was specifically designed with out the use of air in the cooling process and therefore eliminates the need of a large horsepower electric drives and the associated heat losses making this technology as the most efficient bulk solids cooler technology available.
Furthermore, this technology provides a uniform final product temperatures since the product moves with uniform velocity through the heat exchanger which refer to as a mass flow design. This feature, combined with long residence times (typically 5-10 minutes), enables even temperature distribution as the product passes through the heat exchanger, producing remarkably stable and uniform final product temperatures.
Since this technology has a vertical configuration, the design is both compact and modular which means that additional heat exchanger plate banks can be stacked if increased cooling capacity is required in the future. The compact installation footprint makes this design easy to integrate in existing plants and is ideal for de-bottlenecking, revamps and capacity increases.
The mere fact that this technology was designed with an indirect plate cooling, air is not used in the entire cooling process. The installation costs were also reduced since there is no need to install unnecessary air handling equipment such as large diameter air ducting, motors, fans, scrubbers, chillers, and emissions controls. Fines, dusts, and odors were also eliminated because air was not used to the direct cooling of the product courtesy of the indirect plate cooling design.
